Jun-da-xi historical trail is located at the middle and upper course of Zhuo-Shui river in Xin-Yi, Zen-Ai Town of Nan-Tou County. The majority of the existing historical trails in Taiwan are headed in an east-west direction which was constructed to link the two sides of the central mountain range together. Unlike the rest, Jun-da-xi trail is headed in the north-south direction, running parallel to the main course and tributaries of Zhuo-Shui river, meandering in the mountainous area at the center of Taiwan.
The trail between Chubean and Wu-jade is about 7 km long and takes about two hours for the tourists to walk the whole grueling distance. The mud trail only allows one person to pass through at any one time. It is the north part of Jun-da-xi trail, and has a total of 6 suspension bridges with different sizes and lengths. On the way one can see the wide, clear Zhuo-Shui river flowing and creating a sense of tranquility, with the mountains and terraces at a distance. Houses can be spotted amongst them, which creates a serene atmosphere as if in a fantasy land. Furthermore, the plum trees and bamboos add color to the scenery.
One end of the trail is Wu-Jie Dam, where the landscape around is able to leave a lasting impact on tourists. This area is still conserved and thus the environment is not polluted and thus affected negatively by the tourists. Chubean people strive to build a beautiful village where tourists can explore the wonders of the nature.
Tourists heading towards the valley will be able to spot a small yet beautiful waterfall along the lake as well as the connecting bridge. There is another three or four meter’s high waterfall, which follows several rapids. Unlike the river water, the water here is clear. This waterfall cluster has been named ‘The heart of Taiwan’.
